CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) is a means of transmitting images from one location to another in order to monitor and record the images. Used widely from casinos to shopping centres, car parks to schools and offices, CCTV systems are used as a visible deterrent from unwanted activity, and as a cost effective method of monitoring numerous locations simultaneously.
By installing cameras in a strategic location and feeding the live images along a cable to a monitoring device, images can be recorded for future playback and reference. The systems can operate continuously or for short term periods, as and when required.
Analogue Systems
80% of existing CCTV installations are analogue systems. Analogue CCTV systems perform exceptionally well in low light conditions. They are cost effective, simple to install and use and can also allow images to be viewed remotely.
IP Systems
IP CCTV systems utilise an Ethernet (IP) network. Often, an existing IP network can be used for this type of system, therefore minimising disruption during installation. IP systems offer a superior image quality, and the ability to record High Definition (HD) images and to easily view remotely via a networked PC or mobile phone/ tablet.
